A great man

A great man

A great man survived a war,
But violence poisoned his lore.
A woman he loved,
Another he beat.
Leaving scars from shoulder to feet.

A great man had to say goodbye
The woman he loved has left his side
Now he lives alone,
His poor old heart
Becoming stone.

A great man became soft,
Gained a heart,
Filled my life with love.
I loved him,
He was a man I adored.
His love made me feel at home.

A great man has lost his greatness.
Became scared and succumbed to weakness.
He now seems so frail,
So small,
In a bed, awaiting his fall.
