„Beautiful disaster“, Jamie McGuire

Abby Abernathy started college with her best friend America, and she’s trying to be a good student and citizen to escape from her family and her dark past. Exactly what she doesn’t need is Travis, the ultimate campus bad boy with anger issues who spends his nights winning money in underground fights, and his days as the most irresistible charmer you’ll ever read about. Travis is intrigued by Abby being a tough cookie and her immunity to his charm. He’s wondering if he’s met his match. However, they end up being best friends and making a bet – if he gets hit by his opponent in a fight, he will remain abstinent for a month, but if he doesn’t, she’ll have to live in his apartament for a month. This simple bet will change their lives for better or for worst. It’s probably the best love-hate, boyfriend-best friend book you’ll ever read.

Beautiful disaster

„Beautiful disaster“ definitely isn’t an ordinary romantic shallow story like the short summary might make it seem, it’s so much more than that. The story is very complex, interesting, dark, passionate, full of surprises.

Beautiful disaster2

What I loved the most is that the characters are truthfully described with all of their weaknesses, virtues, addictions and problems. It’s relieving and rare that characters seem human and real, and not idealized or typified. Their decisions are often unexpected which makes the story unpredictable. Also, the characters’ relationships are so beautifully and vividly described that you’ll want to experience it yourself.
