“Loving Vincent”

Did you know that “Loving Vincent” will be the world’s first painted animation, with every shot painted with oil paints on canvas, just as Van Gogh himself used to paint. He once wrote: “The truth is, we cannot speak other than by our paintings.  And today, a group of artists and filmmakers are taking the artist’s words quite seriously. The film, directed by the Polish painter Dorota Kobiela and filmmaker Hugh Welchman, is an investigation into the life and mysterious death of Vincent Van Gogh, one of the world’s most beloved and famous painters that have ever lived. It involves over 100 painters, all trained in the Van Gogh’s style. This is a massive undertaking considering the project’s aim to create a feature-length film. One hour of the film equals 43,200 paintings, which means 12 hand-made oil paintings per second! The film is going to be released this year, so make sure you watch it!
